How can I prevent skin cancer?

Skin cancer arises most often in areas of our body that are constantly exposed to the sun: face, head, neck, arms, backs, and legs. In addition, certain people may be more susceptible to skin cancer than others, including people with fair skin and people with a larger percentage of freckles and moles on their body. Regardless of whether you’re more likely to develop skin cancer, everyone should take necessary precautions to prevent it:

  • Use sunscreen regularly.
  • Stay away from tanning booths.
  • Check your skin for the appearance of new moles.
  • See your doctor if you are concerned.

Going to be spending some time in the sun? Ensure you’re well equipped—you can purchase sunscreen at your local drug store or grocery store.
