How can I tell if I have a thyroid problem?

Thyroid problems are impossible to detect without proper medical tests. Recent estimates say that as many as 60 million people may have a thyroid condition they’re unaware of. If you have any of the symptoms below, you may have a thyroid condition:

  • Fatigue, even after getting a full night’s sleep
  • Inability to lose or gain weight through changes to your diet
  • Depression. This symptom is typically associated with hypothyroidism
  • Anxiety. This symptom is typically associated with hyperthyroidism
  • High cholesterol levels that do not respond to diet or medication
  • Infertility or irregularities in menstrual cycle
  • Swelling of the neck
