What are the warning signs of diabetes?

The two different types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body’s pancreas fails to make enough insulin to move sugar from the blood into other cells to create energy. Type 2, also known as adult-onset diabetes, can result from obesity and a poor diet. The symptoms of both are often the same:

  • Frequent urination.
  • Overwhelming thirst.
  • Weight loss. This is a more frequent symptom of Type 1 diabetes.
  • Fatigue and weakness.
  • Tingling in the extremities, frequently felt in the hands, legs or feet.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Unusually long healing periods for infections and cuts.

If you feel you may be experiencing some of the symptoms of diabetes, consult your doctor.
