How do I install my refrigerator icemaker?

Most refrigerators today come with automatic icemakers that need to be hooked up to a water supply in order to work. This is a relatively simple task that you can accomplish by buying an ice maker installation kit which will contain everything you need.

  1. Look under the kitchen sink, find the cold water pipe that connects to it, and close the valve to turn off the water.
  2. Tap into the cold water line by installing a saddle valve that will allow you to draw water from the line into your fridge.
  3. Run tubing from the valve into the icemaker inlet on the back of your refrigerator.
  4. Turn the water back on.

If you’re still unsure, contact a plumber to perform the installation.
