How do I replace my doorbell?

Doorbell replacement may seem like a daunting task, but it’s actually relatively simple.
- Turn off the power. You want to be able to ring the bell, not have the house ring yours.
- Replace the buzzer button by dismounting the old one and detaching the wiring from its back. Connect the new buzzer button to the existing wiring. (You may need to use wire strippers to clean up the ends of the wiring if it’s become frayed.)
- Turn on the power, and test your doorbell. If it still doesn't work, you may need to replace the chimes inside your home. Turn the power back off, and repeat the same procedure for step 2, this time with the chime box.
- Turn on the power, and test your doorbell again.
Your doorbell should now be fully operational. In the case that it isn’t, contact an electrician to pay a visit to your home. Your doorbell’s wiring may be cut.
