China, glass and crystal are the most frequently damaged items during a move. However, if you package them correctly, you can prevent damage, even under conditions that may expose them to moderate impact.
- All china, glass and crystal should be packaged in their own separate boxes and not mixed with other items.
- Layer the bottom of the box with packing peanuts.
- Wrap each piece individually in newspaper.
- Bundle small sets together.
- Place bubble wrap or packing peanuts between each layer.
- Once the box is full, fill all empty spaces with peanuts or wadded up newspaper.
- When the box has been sealed shut, mark FRAGILE on each side of the box so that it will be handled with care.
