What's the difference between spay and neuter?

Spaying and neutering are the words that are used to refer to the different procedures for having a dog "fixed." They refer to the same concept, but two separate procedures.
- Spaying: This procedure is carried out to surgically fix female dogs so they will not be able to procreate. It involves removal of both ovaries and the uterus.
- Neutering: This refers to the surgical castration of male dogs to prevent them from impregnating female dogs.
