My son has been attending the Intro to Sports Class for approximately 2 months now. He goes once a week at 9 am on Saturdays. He turned 3 in March 2012 and I plan on keeping him in this class, which the age group is up to 3 years old. The session is an hour long and it starts out with about 15 minutes in the bounce houses that include a large fun slide. I love this part of the session because not only does it build your upper and lower body strength but your self esteem too!! The kids love when the can climb up to the top of the slide with little effort! It's such an accomplishment!!! The remaining time includes one or more lessons on any given sport. After the bounce house- the warm up for the class begins... its standard stretching that also includes jumping jacks, leg butterflies and a quick drill- almost like an obstacle course- which the kids LOVE!
The sports lessons do not follow the seasons, so it's ok to play football in the spring etc However, what the lessons do follow is the fundamental instruction for the sport they are playing that day. I have seen such a big improvement on my Son's overall ability to play sports. He has gained confidence and knowledge about the aspects of the different sports. He is really enjoying his time at sports class!! My husband and I love taking him here because we know that physical activity improves blood flow to the brain enhancing memory, attention and creativity skills... which are all essential to learning. Not only is our son getting a work out in, ha ha... but he is also getting essential sports instruction, while learning how to be a part of a group of participating children. He is also learning how to be a part of a team, which is great for interpersonal skills.
We LOVE Coach Jay!!!! He is extremely detailed and overall AWESOME with the kids!! He is just the BEST!
