Childers & Associates is to provide economical service, successful results, and extraordinary client relationships. Our values include dedication, determination, integrity and accessibility. We handle commercial, business, trust and estate litigation, employment disputes, constitutional and civil rights claims, insurance coverage disputes, professional negligence and "E&O" claims, land planning and environmental litigation. We litigate these cases with the experience and creativity of a "big firm," but with the personal attention and value of a small firm. Mr. Childers has appeared before dozens of state and federal courts throughout Kentucky. He has tried multiple multimillion dollar cases, successfully handled federal trials and appeals and has favorably resolved matters through mediations and dispute settlements. Mr. Childers has been on the winning side of some of the most significant cases in Kentucky history, particularly mineral taxation and coal broad form deed litigation. Through victories in published decisions, he has literally written Kentucky law on taxation of unmined coal, surface owners’ rights related to broad form deeds, surface owners’ rights against natural gas companies, and Constitutional rights protecting freedom of speech. Mr. Childers has previously served on the Board of Regents of Kentucky State University and as Chairman of the Kentucky Mine Safety Review Commission. He lives in Lexington with his wife, Denise Smith, and their two children, Will Childers and Rena Childers.
