  1. Our Unhappy Experiencesby dickquinn on 08/25/2013

We hired Land Effects (LE) in 2011, based on LE claims of expertise. For $280/mo, LE promised to start/stop annual irrigation, monitor irrigation times/coverage, mow, edge, weed lawn/beds, and trim shrubs. We paid extra for thatching/aeration, whenever recommended by LE; and we always paid LE bills early.||[]||[]Before hiring LE, our healthy blue grass was 212 to 3 inches and watered every other day. LE cut our grass to less than 2 inches, watered 2X/day and fertilized frequently. 11 weeks later, our lawn had Necrotic Ring Spots (NRS). LE claimed that NRS fungi were in our lawn before LE began work. We accepted that claim and paid for multiple, costly fungicide treatments.||[]||[]We have since learned that too-frequent watering/fertilization, cutting blue grass to less than 2 inches, inadequate thatching/aeration, and/or failure to disinfect equipment can bring NRS to a previously uninfected lawn. Tim, one LE owner, admitted that LE crews see a lot of NRS but clean equipment only once a week.||[]||[]We live elsewhere in Spring. On May 31, we learned that LE had failed to start our irrigation. Our lawn was brown/dying. LE abandoned our property despite the promise of Tom, another LE owner, that our lawn would be carefully monitored this year. Also, LE promised to repeat fungicide spraying this Spring.||[]||[]On May 31, LE started watering our lawn - long periods every day - and arranged the fungicide spray. Large areas of our lawn remain dead. LE has refused to fix the dead areas at no cost to us. Also, our NRS is proliferating.||[]||[]Every week, the LE crew rushed to mow/edge our lawn. However, our beds/lawn were left with many weeds, and our shrubs were left untrimmed. Irrigation coverage has been inconsistent. Misaligned or broken heads were not fixed until totally brown areas developed.||[]||[]We've fired LE. Based on our unhappy experiences with LE, we cannot recommend this company.
