The Poweshiek County Mental Health Center is a private non-profit organization accredited by the State of Iowa and recognized by Poweshiek County as the community mental health center for the county.
Individual Therapy: Children, adolescents, and adults can meet one-on-one with a professional therapist to address a variety of emotional, cognitive, or behavioral problems. Family Therapy: Whenever there are problems in the home, family therapy can be an extremely powerful intervention to bring about positive change.
Marriage Counseling: There are a number of therapists at the center who can help couples communicate more effectively, reduce conflict, and increase emotional intimacy.
Group Therapy: The specific groups offered at the center change, so please call if you are interested in a group.
Medication Management: Given the shortage of psychiatrists in Iowa, the mental health center is extremely fortunate to have a psychiatrist and a physician assistant who prescribe medication. They work with people to answer their medication questions and make sure their medications are effective.
