Cracked windshields are not only unsightly but also dangerous. If you don't take care of the problem immediately, you could end up with a bigger issue that will cost more money to fix. Here are some windshield repair tips to help you avoid this situation. Before you begin any repairs, ensure there is no dirt or dust in the area.

This can cause the glass to break when you try to remove it. Use a clean cloth to wipe away any loose particles. Once you have cleaned the area around the crack, carefully use a putty knife or other sharp object to pry off the damaged part of the windshield gently. Be careful not to damage the surrounding area. After removing the damaged portion of the windshield, apply a piece of clear duct tape over the area. The tape should cover the entire windshield surface, including the edges. Make sure that the tape covers all areas where the glass meets the frame. Next, carefully replace the damaged section of the windshield. You may need to cut out an additional piece of tape to fit the new section. Once the replacement is complete, press down firmly on the tape to ensure it sticks well.
