How a Loose Cable Is Actually An Easy Garage Door Repair
There are some types of garage door repair that are highly involved, but having a loose cable can be pretty easy to fix, even for someone without any experience fixing garage doors. There is a cable at each end of the garage door that must be in good working order so that the garage door can function. The first thing to do is to locate the cables and see which one is loose or whether both are loose.
If a cable is loose, you will see it loose from the spool on that side. A cable that's in good positioning is tight on the spool like a spool of thread. If it is loosely coming off the spool, it needs to be fixed for the door to work better again. Get a pair of vice grips and use them to keep the door up in a stable position so you can fix the cable.
Get the cable loose from the spool so that you can respin it onto the spool again. Once it's all loose, you can make sure that one end of the cable is in the drum so that it can be reset properly. Then, put it all back on the spool tightly.
