If not addressed, a crack on a windshield can quickly escalate into more substantial damage. In terms of auto glass repair, it is important to deal with a crack as soon as possible.
The first thing that needs to be done is removing any dirt or moister that is near the crack. If this seeps into the crack before the repair, it can lead to the work not being done correctly, putting the windshield at risk of more damage.

The next step is to inject the resin capsule. While injecting the resin, make sure the device used is not applying too much pressure to the windshield itself, as this can lead the cracks to worsen. After the initial resin is applied, remove the device and apply additional pitfill resin to the area. This covers any areas that may have been missed and ensure that no cracks remain.
After the resins have been applied, cover the area with mylar and place some UV light over the area.
Another thing to note, depending on how long the crack was on the windshield before the repair, it may be necessary to replace the windshield wipers, as small shards of glass may have been left on them which can in turn lead to more damage to the windshield.
