Heat pump systems tend to last 15 to 18 years because they cool and heat your home. Straight cool systems can last closer to 20 years since they only cool the home. Even with this difference, it’s important to remember that heat pump systems are the most efficient way to heat a property.

There are a few factors that mainly affect how long your AC will last. The most important thing is that you have a proper system installation. Other big factors include having a technician come in for preventative maintenance about once a year and that you don’t try to cool your home at a much lower temperature than the temperature outside.
