Using Landscape Blocks as a Retaining Wall

Retaining walls are a great addition to any garden or yard that increases aesthetic appeal greatly. These can be built using landscape blocks to increase the height of flower beds or section off areas of landscaping. While this can be done by the homeowner, the amount of materials and hours it would require often leads the homeowner to hire a landscaping contractor.

If you hire a contractor, they will follow a step-by-step plan to install the retaining wall. They will ask you where you would like it and if you have opinions on dimensions and shape. If not, they can recommend the best option. Once the project starts, the area will be measured off and dug into, especially where the foundation of the wall will be. It will be filled in with gravel and setting materials to ensure a proper foundation for the wall to be built upon. The wall can start being built on the foundation, layering the landscape blocks in a method that makes them fit together. Each vertical layer requires a caulk sealant to be placed between the blocks to adhere them to each other and create a stable wall. Once the wall is stable, the interior can be filled with topsoil and mulch to create a nice flower bed with room for more landscaping.
