An HVAC system warms indoor spaces during winter and cools them during summer. According to the narrator in the video, while most homeowners know that HVAC is short for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, they don't understand everything that goes into these systems and how they work. How do heating and air systems work?
The first aspect of an HVAC is heating. Most homes have a furnace to provide heat powered by various heat sources like electricity, natural gas, propane, etc.
The heating equipment also comprises a blower motor to circulate the heated air throughout the home.
The second aspect of an HVAC system is ventilation which includes any attached systems that help move air throughout a home or commercial space. A home's ventilation includes ceiling, floor and wall vents, ductwork, and PVC ventilation. Inadequate ventilation can stifle an HVAC system's ability to heat or cool a home.
The third aspect of an HVAC system is cooling. An HVAC system typically has an in-built air conditioner. However, it can have a heat pump that may heat or cool an indoor space. When the air conditioner produces cold air, the blower pushes it inside the ductwork, and the air mixes with the hot air inside the room, which cools it down.
