In 1978 Richard A, Searls Jr, and his three sons founded Searls Windows and Doors, Inc, at our current location in Plainfield, Illinois, We have been serving contractors, developers and homeowners in the greater Chicago area, southeast Wisconsin, and northwest Indiana for over thirty years, Today the business is still family owned and operated, The current owners are Dick and John Searls. Our window and door business developed from two generations of general contracting and residential subdivision development, We discovered a segment of the market in building material supply that was under served, Then we set out to become the best window and door supplier in the Chicago area, In the beginning lumberyards were our main competitors, While they were trying to sell many building products, they struggled with the knowledge necessary to provide good service on window and door products, Our plan was to specialize in only the sale of window and doors so we could become experts and serve the customer better than the competition, We still hold this philosophy today. During our 30 years of business, we have seen many changes in the industry, We began selling a very limited product line from our inventory with a delivery time of one week or less, Over time we modified our product offering to stay current with the changing trends, Then computerization and the “have it your way” consumer arrived, Today we sell very customized products, produced by major manufacturers with lead times ranging from two to five weeks, As in the beginning, we are still dedicated to helping our customers fulfill their dreams and exceed their expectations. In summary, we bring our customer three generations of experience and expertise in residential, commercial, office, remodeling and replacement projects, We combine that with the best windows and door products available, bringing them long term value.
