Each technique is going to differ in efficiency depending on the type of surface being cleaned and the purpose of the cleaning. Softwashing is best where you need the highest concentration of bleach, down-streaming is good for house cleaning or pre-treating concrete, and pressure washing is good for rinsing in general. The video above shows the difference between these different washing techniques. Soft washing can be performed using a proportioner or through batch mixing. A proportioner provides an easier way to adjust ratios in real time. With a heavy 5% bleach concentration, cleaning a cement surface with a soft washing technique works very well in removing dirt. Down-streaming with a standard house washing mix will have very little impact on concrete. Pressure washing performs best with a higher concentration of bleach, but also performs better than down-streaming with a lower concentration of bleach. Although, with any of these cleaning techniques, the ratio of bleach to water is just as important as the method of cleaning, if not more so. .
