In this case, phifertex fabric is being used to restore an outdoor sling chair, but this is something that can be tried on other outdoor furniture as well. If the sling chair is salvageable, one can save it with some new fabric and a new coat of paint. Before cutting the new fabric, measure the existing one first. Measure as accurately as possible to avoid having to cut anew. The trickiest part of fitting the new fabric is a bit of basic sewing to create channels for the splines. After that, it gets much easier, except that it may take some effort to unscrew the chair and insert the new fabric. With the chair disassembled and the old fabric removed, take this opportunity to add a fresh coat of paint and perhaps some new screws if necessary. Lastly, ensure the new fabric is tightly tensioned onto the chair for stability and comfort.
