Although there are various ways to repair tires, plug patching is the most effective.

The first step in plug patching is locating and marking the puncture. Experts recommend replacing tires if they have puncture holes beyond the tread marks. Ensure you label the valve position before dismounting the tire from the rim. You can then remove the puncturing object using a pair of pliers. It would be wise to ascertain the direction of the puncture by lubricating a narrow metal rod with rubber cement before inserting it.

Ensure you use a pre-buff cleaner and rubber cement to prep the inside face of the puncture before widening the hole with a drill bit. Insert the plug patch from the inside and seal the edges with a sealant to prevent air leakage. Use a sharp razor to trim any excess patching on the tire top. Bouncing the tire before inserting the rim would be wise to reveal any leaks.
