Let's find out more!

Normally, trainers can teach the basics of sheet metal repair, framework repair that covers the entire vehicle, etc. Some people believe that those that were trained in the 70s or earlier don't have much to teach newer mechanics because those techniques don't apply to modern cars, but they're wrong. Many procedures are transferable, and you can learn a lot from them.

One of the main things you need to understand during training is work hardening, which has to do with handling sheet metal. A piece of sheet metal is a pretty solid structure, but something interesting happens after a collision when the sheet bends. It stretches the material, so when the mechanic tries to flatten it, a bump can appear. The idea of this training is to show how to prevent that and how to stretch the sheet back to its original form.
