The best way to stop widespread mold is the fight it at its source. Fix any leaking plumbing in the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room. You will also want to clean your gutters as water can get into your home if they are clogged.
When you start cleaning be sure to wear protective clothing, including gloves and a face mask. This will not only protect you from mold spores, but from the harsh cleaning chemicals you are going to use on the mold.
Use cleaning agents specifically made for cleaning the mold. Follow the instructions on the packaging of the cleaning solution. Vinegar is also useful for cleaning if you don't want to use a product with harsh chemicals.
