Start with the removal of old or damaged shingles. This should be done with caution, as many may have nails or pieces of wood attached to them. Make sure you are wearing the proper safety equipment, such as gloves and goggles.

The next is getting up to the roof. Some may be fortunate enough to have easy access to their roofs. For everyone else, using an extension ladder with someone there to keep it balanced is the best way to get up there.

As titles are removed, keep a close eye out for any cracks or damages that may appear. These areas can be the most crucial to address because if treated the same as the rest of the roof, they can lead to water seeping in and damaging both the exterior and interior of the home.
