Georgina starts by pouring boiling water down the drain. This gives it an initial clearout and helps loosen any built-up debris or grease causing the clog. After adding a kettle of boiling water down the drain, she measures half a cup of baking soda and pours it down the sink. Georgina then recommends letting the baking soda sit for about 10 minutes. After the ten minutes is up, the next step is to add half a cup of vinegar. When you add the vinegar, you will hear a lot of fizzing, which is the reaction between the vinegar and baking soda. After adding the vinegar, let it sit for another 15 minutes. At the end of the fifteen-minute wait, the next step Georgina takes is to pour another kettle of boiling water down the drain. If the solution worked, the water should drain instantly and there shouldn't be any bad odors. She then recommends leaving the hot tap running for five minutes to ensure everything is cleared out. Georgina notes that if you have a serious clog, you may have to repeat the process a couple more times, but it may be preferable to use a drain cleaning solution.
