How to Fix a Sinking Driveway

Many property owners install a concrete driveway because it offers various benefits. For example, it doesn't form potholes, and it's the only driveway material that gets structurally stronger the longer it stays. That alone makes concrete a solid investment. However, as the YouTube video points out, concrete driveways aren't without problems. Your driveway may sink, which can pose various problems for your property.

Why You Need to Fix Your Sunken Driveway

When a driveway sinks in, it can cause water to accumulate and direct the water to your property's foundation. This may cause moisture problems in your home and other problems, such as mold and mildew, affecting your family's health. So, how do you fix a sunken driveway?

One method you could use is concrete raising, or mud jacking, as it's more commonly known. Mud jacking is a process that involves forcing wet concrete underneath your existing slab of concrete to raise the level and make the surface more even. Another method is to inject expanding foam under the concrete. It has the same effect as mud jacking. Alternatively, if the problem isn't that severe, you could resurface the concrete.

Driveways sink in when the soil underneath is eroded, causing a void. This is a natural process that cannot be avoided in many cases. It should, however, not be a reason to deter you from installing a concrete driveway, as the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
