Q. What are the differences between the grades of granite?
A. One factor in the grade of a slab of granite is its origin. Granite is heavy. It costs a lot to ship, so the closer to you a piece of granite is taken out of the ground, the less it will cost, well, usually. Granite quarried in India costs less than granite from Italy or Brazil. That's because the visual appearance of the granite matters, too. Granite in darker colors is less expensive than granite in lighter colors, and granite that is hard to extract is more expensive than granite that is easier to extract.
Q. Does the thickness of the granite make a difference?
