Heat will rise through the attic if there is insufficient insulation since the goal of your attic space is to keep the temperature and relative humidity as close to your home's exterior as possible. When the insulation obstructs the intake vents at your home's eaves, it may cause an increase in moisture, which will lead to leakage, and fungal growth that will accelerate the deterioration of your roof's plywood sheathing. Improper ventilation in rooms with high moisture production, such as bathrooms and kitchens, can also cause moisture to accumulate and cause severe damage over time. For instance, when the moisture from your shower is pushed through the pipe that runs through your attic, it must exit through the roof's exterior. If there is no pipe in the attic or the pipe is not installed through the roof's exterior, it may cause the moisture to be pushed into the attic space, and when it warms up, you will notice what appears to be a leak which is bad for your roofing system.
