How Do Helical Piers Help With Foundation Repair?

Foundation repair is a necessary step in home maintenance for many homeowners every year, but what's the best option for getting the job done? Helical piers are one good answer. See the video below for the process of using helical piers for foundation repair and the associated benefits. The first step in repairing a home's foundation is typically going to start with a home inspection.

Specific components like gas lines, the planned location for each pier, and other essential spots will be marked. The contractor then digs holes in the location for each pier to reveal the footing and allow for proper bracket arrangement. Next, the footing is notched, to create a flat, but smooth surface for the bracket. The helical "pile", a helical pier, is installed as shown in the video. Once it reaches the desired depth and load-bearing level, the "pile" is cut off at the correct height. A lift bracket is installed backward and rotated under the foundation. Once all of the piles have been installed with the brackets, a hydraulic jack is used to raise the piles into the home's foundation. This levels the home and tends to close cracks as well. The foundation repair is now complete and all of the holes are filled to restore the land back to its original condition. .
