Your roof is one of the most important elements of your home. It keeps the home warm, safe and protected from the elements. You can keep your roof maintained with the help of roofing contractors, including replacing the roof if necessary, but what are the signs you need roof maintenance?
There are three core components to indicate that you may need to replace your roof. They are shingles breaking down, flashing areas, and granule loss.
There are also other general concern areas that may tip you off to necessary service.
Granules on top of shingles keep the roof protected from weather elements, but if the granules are worn off from the shingles then the shingles are no longer protected. Damaged shingles may be one of the most visually apparent indicators. Cracked shingles are usually a sign of wind damage. Any cracks or other visual damages on shingles are a good indicator that the roof may need to be replaced. You'll also want to visually inspect the edges of the siding on top of the roof. If there are gaps along the flashing areas, this may allow for water to easily make its way under the shingles during rain storms.
