The Basics of Well Drilling and Well Services

Wells are an important source of water in many parts of the world. Drilling a well is a technical procedure that needs to be done by professional well services providers. The first thing one must know about well digging is the various layers of soil they have to go through before getting to the bedrock.

There are different types of drilling with the most common being the rotary drilling machine. This is a giant machine with hydraulic drills that are drilled into the ground. The cable tool works on the same principle as the rotary tool but instead of the cable moving in rotary motions, they are pounded into the ground by giant machines. The rotary machine is usually attached to a truck. When starting a project, this lorry comes accompanied by a support lorry that contains gallons of water. The first step is to set up the drills in a vertical position and ensure that the grinding tools are well placed. Metal rods of 20 feet in length are then attached to the drill end and drilled into the ground. At the end of each rod, another is attached until they reach the bedrock. Metal casings are then drilled in a similar manner to protect the collapse of the overburdened soil. With this installed then drilling into the bedrock begins until water is reached. It is important to ensure that the casing is sealed to prevent contaminated groundwater from making its way into the well. You know that you've got to the water when a gush of water gets out of the casing. After you've reached water install pipes with a well pump to pump water out of the well.
