It's also a good idea to look at the brake pads and see how they're holding up over time. Sometimes, the outer pad might seem perfectly fine, but then when you take apart the caliper, you realize that the inner part of the pad has worn off completely. If there's uneven pad wear, there might be a bigger problem with the caliper, which could lead to dangerous situations.
